Rules
A. NO COACHING PLAYER ONLY may ask about a rule, not a shot. This applies mainly for Open Leagues. Coaching is a foul. Any member of a team called for coaching will result in a foul on the team member shooting.
B. Each team will designate a referee to watch the game, The two people playing the game have the first option to settle any disagreement, otherwise the referees have the deciding decision.
C. Either player can approach the referee to head off any potential problem
D. If the opponent refuses to stop play when a foul is called, then the team captain can protest. ONLY the team captain has the right to protest
E. CALL SHOT Obvious ball and pockets do not have to be indicated. It is the opponents right to ask which ball and pocket if he or she is unsure of the shot. Banks and combinations are not considered obvious and both the object ball and the pocket must be called. The opening break is not a called pocket shot.
F. FROZEN BALL With a cue and object ball frozen, shooting the shot from any angle other than 45 degrees above, to the right, or to the left of center from the straight line of the frozen balls is a foul and must be so called.
G. MOVING THE CUE BALL WITH STICK Accidentally moving or touching any ball is not a foul unless the ball is the cue ball (only cue ball fouls). Only the opponent may replace the ball moved as closely as possible or leave it where it rests. If the shooter replaces the moved ball, it will be considered a foul.
H. JUMPED BALLS If any object ball is jumped off the table it is a foul and loss of turn; unless it is the 8-ball, which is loss of game. Any jumped object ball is spotted in numerical order.
I. LEGAL SHOTS On all shots (except on the break and when the table is open), the shooter must hit one oh his/her group balls first and either (1) pocket an object ball or (2) cause the cue ball or any object ball to contact a rail.
J. 8-BALL NEUTRAL ON OPEN TABLE Table is always open immediately after the break shot. You must shoot again and legally pocket a ball to determine group. On an open table, the player can shoot at either group of balls including any combination.
K. 8-BALL RULE scratch on the 8-ball = loss of game. any other foul on the 8-ball will be ball in hand.
L. 8-BALL BREAK = automatic win (this will be a 10-0 game).
M. 8-BALL RUN OUT (ERO) Is only possible when 15 balls are on the table and it is your first time up to the table. Otherwise, it is just a win.
N. 10 TO 0 Possible when all of your balls plus the eight ball are pocketed (none of your opponents balls are pocketed).
O. SPOT CALLING THE 8-BALL The marker is placed on the table completely within the first diamond on either side of the pocket. The entire area between the diamonds included. You do not have to touch or move the marker if it is already at your intended pocket.
P. PROTEST PROCEDURE Only the team captain is allowed to file protest. Finish the game before filing the protest. Write down your protest and bring it into the League Secretary along with a $10.00 protest fee (within 48 hours of the match). The protest committee will then get together to decide what needs to be done. The protest committee consists of: President, 1st and 2nd Vice Presidents, the Divisional Vice President form that particular league, and possible one more person.
